Once upon a sea full of camels

24th May 2026

First we struggled up a mountain. Slow and steady. Then we had to go down a steep gravel road to enter a patch of land with the sea on one side and a high mountain cliff on the other. The road winding in the middle of those two beautiful sides until it just ends. With beautiful views of a hidden beach and the coastline behind it, only reachable by hiking.

We end up parking at a small beach. The beautiful view, the cliff stein and steady in the background and camels wandering around our truck, enjoying the sand of the beach and even the sea.

Needless to say we stayed as long as we could in this little paradise place, one of the best we’ve had so far. The nature here was overwhelmingly rough, wild and peaceful at the same time. Just absolutely beautiful.

Fazayah beach, south of Salalah, close to the border with Yemen. If you have the chance, go.
