About the Book
We never intended to write a book about our trip. But it was the story of another family who had written about their far-from-perfect trip that finally convinced us to stop putting our dream off. And so we ended up writing this book after all. Because who knows, we might help you to stop putting your dreams off!
If you wonder how on earth we ended up in the middle of the African bush with our self-build home on wheels – this book is the story of how it all began. One trip through Europe that was supposed to be a once in a lifetime trip. One sabbatical that ended up changing our whole life.
You do need a little courage to leave everything behind and go on a six-month trip. That’s exactly what Karlijn and her family did, in search of freedom, a slower pace, and adventure. While traveling with four young children is a challenge in itself, taking a trip in a vintage camper turns out to be even more challenging than they’d anticipated.
The many unexpected twists and turns, technical setbacks, and creative solutions lead to extraordinary encounters, unforgettable friendships, and the discovery of places that would otherwise go unnoticed. “A Bus Full of Adventures” is a story full of highs and lows that shows you what wonderful things can happen when you dare to take the plunge.
