We are working on this page! Stay tuned for a thorough story of the build of our truck!

The build of our truck

Our big dreams called for a big, strong truck. With just enough money for the initial purchase — and no concrete plan of where we were actually heading — we bought a 1975 Mercedes 1113 German fire truck.

What followed? 1.5 years of tearing out, welding, insulating, sawing, screwing, swearing, dreaming, doubting — and pushing through. From an empty cab to a fully built home on wheels.
Every panel, every wire, every screw passed through our own hands.

Curious how you turn a fire truck into an overland truck?
Here’s where we share exactly how we tackled the build — from the very first sketch to our rolling home.

Before

After

This is where you’ll find the build of our truck divided into smaller, clearly defined projects.

In reality, though, this is not how we built it. The projects were never fully separate. We often worked on multiple things at once, creating chaos in different corners of the truck. Sometimes one project had to pause while we waited for parts, so we shifted our focus to another.

We simply tried to keep moving forward. As long as we were working on something, we were getting one step closer to finishing the truck.
