The bathroom
The smallest room in the truck, the bathroom! We have been measuring a lot. What is the smallest we can go, but still allowing us to comfortably go to the toilet and shower? So we make a completely custom made bathroom. We start with the shower tray. Because the size is completely not standard, we make it ourselves using fiberglass matts. First we make a wooden base inside the floor. Than we start putting layer after layer of the fiberglass. This is definetly no easy material to work with! Its messy, smelly and sticky. We try to make the best we can and hope it will be water tight after drying! But luckily for us, it turns out pretty okay after hardening.

Then we continue with the rest of the walls. They are all made out of wood with space for electra and pipes between the panels. Then we cover the panels with PVC tiles. They are lightweight and water proof and quite easy to glue on. The only challenge is that they are not reaching until the floor, so the weight drags them down… sowe have to be very creative in fixating everything! the color is taupe, but it looks a bit darker on the picture because of the lighting.

Next up is the base for the toilet. We will make a sliding toilet: if we want to shower, we can push the toilet back under the bed behind to create space. The base for the toilet has to be heavy duty and able to hold an adult man. Then we start with the first wall, the one next to the bed which is also the one that will contain the sliding hole. The shower tray goes on all the way under the bed so we create a complete wet room.

Now we can finally start to turn this into a proper bathroom! Installing the shower, the toilet, a water basin, a window for ventilation and a heater for drying stuff. We make a harmonica door. Then some finishing touches to make even this room cosy and voila! We got ourselves a proper bathroom.
