For the living box, we’ve got some help from professionals. Douwe made the drawings, but they double checked and ordered everything. Unfortunetly, in stead of 1-2 months of waiting, we have to wait almost 5… But finally, everything is delivered! Between May and August 2024 we work on the living box. The living box will be build with isolated sandwich panels with a layer of wood in them so we can properly fix things on the wall. The sandwich panels are connected using corner profiles. The guys of the company will come over for a day full of building. They have done this many, many times and they are a perfect team. It is really cool to see them work and slowly but steadily we see our house take shape!

After building the living box, it is our job to finish the work. First step is to make an opening for the door so we can enter inside. Super super scary to put the saw in such a new and white box! We make a ‘front door’ and two garage doors. Then we start with the windows. Cutting more holes and fitting our refurbished second hand windows in them. But before we actually install them, we paint the truck on the outside.

Slowly it starts to feel like something we can actually live in! Last a very big step: moving the rooftop tents from our garden to the truck and fix them on the roof. Another full day of working and again we are very happy with the forklift. Now it really starts to feel like a camper/overland truck/house on wheels!
